ABOUT muzeume

DeNesha Deans, also known as MUZEUME, is an African American multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Gretna, Louisiana. Her work is a powerful reflection of her lived experience as a Black woman in the South—navigating identity, culture, motherhood, and the nuanced emotional landscapes of Black men and women.

Through painting, photography, film, and sound, MUZEUME creates immersive works that are both intimate and expansive, engaging multiple senses and inviting her audience into deep, honest reflection. Her pieces celebrate the vulnerability, beauty, and resilience often hidden within Black and brown communities—and she creates with them in mind, always.

Transitioning from her early career as a music artist (known as Mother Marygold, with collaborations alongside Drake, Curren$y, IDK, Kaytranada, Swizz Beatz, Mike Dean, and T-Pain), DeNesha has evolved into a full-time visual artist and creative educator. She now uses her platform to not only share her own story, but to help others rediscover their creative voice—especially kids and adults who feel disconnected from their artistry.

As MUZEUME continues to build visibility in the art world, DeNesha remains grounded in purpose: to create work that feels like home for those who rarely see themselves reflected, and to guide others back to their own truth through art.
